January 1st 2009	New Years Day Bridge Jump & Race	Competitors jump off the bridge, and compete to win the race.
February 24th and 25th 2009	Shrovetide	Like the name suggests, this event takes place on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wendesday traditionally, at approximately 2pm the two sides, which are known as "Upards" and "Downards", let the games begin, the objective of the game is for each team to score a goal, the goals are three miles apart and the game can continue up until 10pm at night if no goal is scored!! May 2009	Election of the Mayor	The new Mayor is Elected.
June 8th June – 2th July 2009	Ashbourne Arts Festival	Two weeks packed full of ‘Art’. See website for details www.ashbournearts.com
TBA	Ashbourne Floral Competition	The judging of residents and commercial owners floral displays.
July 17th, 18th and 19th 2009	Highland Gathering - Silver Jubiliee Special 3 day event.	The largest gathering of Pipe Bands outside of Scotland, a fun day out for all the family, with events taking place on the recreation ground including performance by the bands, Tug of War, and "Tossing of the Caber". www.ashbournegathering.com

September 6th 2009	Antiques in the Street	Local Antique Dealers recently set up this new fun day, where Church Street is closed to traffic, and the dealers set up stalls in the street, valuations can be carried out whilst visiting the town, or simply browse many of the stalls and look for a bargain.
November 6th 2009	Fireworks Evening	This year the fireworks evening will be held on the Playing Fields of the Recreational Ground in Ashbourne, there will be a Fun Fair, and smaller children's rides, together with hot food and drink being sold, all in all an entertaining event, in a safe environment.
Sunday November 8th 2009	Rememberance Sunday	The Mayor, Councillors, local service, ex-service and other organisations, parade to the memorial gardens to lay Poppy Wreaths on the Annual day of Rememberance

TBA	Late Night Shopping	The Streets of Ashbourne are again officially closed to traffic to allow them to be used to display a selection of charity and market stalls. The Children's Lantern Parade will also be parading through the town. A Fun Fair is also attending, with smaller riders for younger children. The official switching on of the Christmas Tree lights also takes place upon this evening.
TBA	Christmas Lights Competition Judging	The annual Christmas Lights competition, judging of residents Christmas Lights Displays.
Christmas Eve 7:30pm 2009	Carol Service	Usually held on the Sunday before Christmas, carolers gather round the Market Place Christmas ree for traditional Christmas carols aplenty.
